ABOUT THE COURSE
Students with dyslexia and SpLD often struggle to cope with school work and the demands of English examinations due to their language and literacy challenges. The PSLE English paper, in particular, requires them to demonstrate competence not only in reading and writing but in listening and oral communication as well. For many, these are skills that may be difficult and take time to grasp and master. It is important that adults supporting such learners are equipped with the right skills and strategies to cater to their learning needs.

This 15-hour course is designed to complement the existing certificate course in supporting SpLD learners in English Examination Skills which focuses on Paper 2 components of the PSLE English paper. It aims to equip participants with an awareness of the typical challenges that learners with SpLD face in other aspects of the English examination such as Listening Comprehension, Oral Communication and Writing and how they can better support them in these areas by examining and evaluating student’s work samples, identifying learning needs and suggesting appropriate remediation practices and/or strategies to address them.
