Educators, caregivers and parents with children between the ages of 9 to 14 (P3 to S2)




This workshop aims to enable attendees to explore the process of comprehension, as well as develop strategies and instructions that will aid the student in deciphering a long text. Attendees will gain deeper understanding about the difficulties dyslexic learners face in comprehension and be exposed to various strategies that are effective in building comprehension skills, such as vocabulary building and recognizing different types of questions.





1. Understanding Reading Comprehension Impairment

2. What comprehension consists of (the process) and why it is so difficult for Dyslexic learners.

3. Effective reading strategies to aid in a Dyslexic learner's processing and understanding.

4. Building vocabulary skills so as to better understand and tackle passages.

5. Recognising question types.




  • Understand the difference between reading comprehension difficulty and reading comprehension impairment
  • Learn the process of why reading comprehension is difficult for dyslexic learners
  • Gain knowledge in reading strategies and further build understanding when tackling reading comprehension passages
