Parents and caregivers and/or educators of children from age 7 to 12 (P1 to P6)
BRIEF COURSE CONTENT
Topics:
- Teaching Social Skills
- Nurturing Self-Awareness
- Teaching Social Observation
- Nurturing Perspective-Taking and Problem-Solving Skills
WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES
The participants will learn practical strategies to help children learn specific social skills useful for daily interactions with peers and adults in familiar settings. Participants will also learn ways to talk that will support the development of self-awareness and perspective-taking in children by developing their vocabulary for describing their own and other people’s actions, thoughts, emotions and intentions.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Learn games and activities for teaching social skills for different settings
- Learn strategies useful for nurturing self-awareness in children related to their thoughts, feelings and related sensations in the body
- Learn strategies for teaching children to practise social observation in different settings
- Learn strategies for helping children to develop perspective-taking and problem-solving skills
COURSE DELIVERY
The workshop will be delivered online via live-stream on Zoom. While learning online, participants can continue to participate actively in classroom activities through live video and chat functions in zoom.
