TARGET PARTICIPANTS

Parents, caregivers and educators of children with dyslexia and/or ADHD

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES
Learners with learning difficulties often have one or more comorbidities. Attention-related challenges are one of the more commonly seen symptoms among children with dyslexia. Attention is primary to all learning and communication. In this workshop, we hope to be able to provide a broader understanding of attentional challenges, impulse control and other executive function difficulties, alongside ADHD.

BRIEF COURSE CONTENT

Topics:

  1. Understanding dyslexia and ADHD
  2. ADHD across a person’s lifespan
  3. Strategies to managing learning difficulties at home and in class

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • To be able to define dyslexia and ADHD
  • To be able to identify the symptoms of dyslexia and ADHD
  • To understand underlying causes, possible deficits and challenges a child who has dyslexia and/or ADHD may face
  • To learn strategies to manage ADHD and attentional challenges at home and in school
  • To learn and apply the ADHD-guided framework through case-study discussions

COURSE DELIVERY

The workshop will be delivered online via live-stream on Zoom. While learning online, participants can continue to participate actively in classroom activities through live video and chat functions in zoom.
