A child who has just found out about his diagnosis of dyslexia is pretty much like a boy who has received a bicycle from his parents. At first instance, he might resist the new label. Then the fear of the unknown and the unexpected sets in. Finally, he worries about how dyslexia can slow him down and set him back in his learning. However, this boy just needs to know that handling dyslexia is like handling a bicycle. Coping with dyslexia might seem tough at first, but when he is encouraged by his family and teachers, is provided with a safe terrain, and learns proper control and safety techniques, he can cycle very far in life with his dyslexia, just like many famous dyslexics.
The DAS Academy is your partner as you journey with children with dyslexia. Our belief is that if a child cannot learn the way we teach, we teach them the way they learn. Our training courses can help you to navigate and discover dyslexia, and experience how dyslexia can become a powerful vehicle for these children. It is our hope that one day, these children would be able to say, “I would not have come so far had it not been for my dyslexia.”
