About the Course

COURSE LECTURERS
Tina Tan, Hamadatun Yusuf

This 15-hour course aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to understand and support learners with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Participants will be introduced to current research on ADHD and gain a deeper understanding of the difficulties that learners with ADHD experience. Participants will also draw on intervention frameworks to identify and address challenging behaviours effectively and develop holistic support plans to better meet the needs of learners with ADHD.

The target audience may be educators who need practical strategies to support learners with ADHD in managing attention, behaviour, and learning in the classroom, parents who want to better support their children at home, or professionals working with children with attentional and hyperactivity issues.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Advise on the identification and support of an ADHD learner
  • Apply the Interactive Factors Framework (IFF) to understand the influence of biological, cognitive and environmental factors on the learner
  • Analyse a problem behaviour with reference to ADHD characteristics and the Antecedent-Behavioural-Consequence (ABC) model
  • Select and practise behavioural management approaches to address the behavioural needs of an ADHD learner
  • Suggest supplementary remedies, interventions or modifications to address the biological deficits and environmental risks factors associated with ADHD
  • Apply Universal Design for Learning (UDL) guidelines to enhance environmental factors to help children with ADHD learn effectively

At DAS Academy, most of our courses are delivered through a blended learning approach that combines the best of both worlds—in-person classroom sessions and online live learning. Classroom sessions provide opportunities for rich interaction, collaboration, and hands-on engagement, while online live learning offers flexibility and convenience, allowing learners to learn anywhere.

Participants will complete a written assessment at the end of the course. The assessment consists of case studies requiring them to apply key theories and frameworks covered in the course. Participants will have 1 hour and only one attempt to complete the assessment.

  • A Certificate of Achievement will be awarded to participants who attain at least 75% attendance and successfully pass the assessment.
  • A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to participants who attain at least 75% attendance and do not wish to undertake the assessment.

*Course will be postponed if the minimum number of participants is not met.
