ABOUT THE COURSE
This course aims to enable participants in understanding and supporting learners who have difficulties with Mathematics, including those with dyslexia. In Singapore, the prevalence of dyslexia amongst the population is estimated to be 10% of which 4% will have dyslexia severe enough to warrant intervention. Students with dyslexia have been found to display difficulties in learning Mathematics. Hence, this course provides theoretical and practical knowledge of Mathematical learning, and understand how individual differences affect the learning of Mathematics. It is designed to give both professionals and family members a valuable overview of how to support struggling learners in Mathematics through identifying and assessing individual needs, as well as practical strategies in supporting these learners.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The target audience may be a teacher who needs an insight into how to cope with teaching Mathematics to struggling learners in the classroom, a parent who wants to support their child at home or other professionals and specialists who support students with learning differences.
