Workshop Objectives
Workshop Objectives
Does your child put off starting work, give up easily or seem willing to engage only when a
reward is offered? When children appear unmotivated, it can be tempting to assume that they are lazy, defiant or simply not trying hard enough.
However, motivation can be influenced by many factors, including children’s past
experiences, their confidence in succeeding, the value they attach to a task, the choices
available to them and the support they experience when learning becomes difficult.
This workshop will help parents better understand what may be underlying their child’s
behaviour and consider the role that rewards can play in supporting motivation. Through relatable examples and practical approaches, parents will explore how they can create conditions at home that encourage children to begin, persist and become increasingly independent, while maintaining a positive parent-child relationship.
