ABOUT THE LECTURERS

TARGET PARTICIPANTS
Parents and caregivers of children between the ages of 7 to 10 (P1 to P4).

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES
This workshop allows participants to understand the nature of Mathematics and why learners with dyslexia struggle with Mathematics. Participants will be more aware of the theoretical and practical implications of Mathematics and gain practical strategies that can be applied in both home and school settings to support learners with dyslexia in their learning of Mathematics.

BRIEF COURSE CONTENT

Topics:

  1. Understanding Dyscalculia and Maths learning difficulties
  2. Common Errors in Computation
  3. Number Sense & Knowledge
  4. Basic Operations: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication & Division.
  5. Fractions
  6. Word Problems

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Understand the learning difficulties related to Mathematics
  • Recognise misconceptions in Maths through error analysis
  • Gain practical strategies in supporting learners with dyslexia in Maths at home

COURSE DELIVERY

The workshop will be delivered online via live-stream on Zoom. While learning online, participants can continue to participate actively in classroom activities through live video and chat functions in zoom.
