About the Course
This course aims to help participants acquire theoretical knowledge on different aspects of speech, language and communication, including typical speech-language acquisition and development from birth to adulthood, as well as an overview of Speech, Language and Communication Disorders.
The course is designed to help participants gain a greater understanding of speech, language and communication disorders, as well as their impact on learners’ receptive and expressive language, social behaviours, as well as their learning experiences in a classroom. The course will introduce some practical classroom strategies which can be incorporated into classroom practice to support learners with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).
The target audience may be teachers who need specific strategies in supporting preschool, primary or secondary school learners diagnosed or suspected of having speech, language or communication needs in the classroom, or parents who want to support their children with such needs at home, or other professionals and specialists who support and work with these children.
Learners in preschool, primary or secondary level who may be struggling to learn vocabulary, to understand spoken or written language, or struggling to express themselves, be it due to unclear speech, or communication which does not convey the intended message effectively.
DAS Academy will be delivering the course with dual-mode of learning; face-to-face or online via live-stream on Zoom. Please indicate your preferred mode of learning in the registration form. Please note that you will not be allowed to change your preference once the registration is completed.
A Certificate of Achievement will be awarded to participants who attain at least 75% attendance and successfully pass the assessment.
