About the Course
The 21-hour certificate course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to move learners beyond basic literacy skills and deepen participants’ understanding of the types of difficulties SpLD learners face in advanced literacy in Chinese. Participants will be equipped with strategies in working with more able or older learners who need higher order skills. The course will also expose participants to designing and incorporating activities in lessons that cater to the learners’ needs.

本课程将为参与者提供如何帮助学生掌握基本读写能力的知识和策略,并深化参与者对读写障碍孩童在学习较高读写能力所面临困难的理解。参与者将学习如何为学生的学习需求设计教学资源和课堂活动。

Note: The course will be delivered in both English and Mandarin to explain certain concepts.

The target audience may be a teacher who needs strategies in supporting learners in higher order literacy skills (reading comprehension, writing), a parent who wants to support their child at home or other professional and specialists who support students with learning differences.

At DAS Academy, most of our courses are delivered through a blended learning approach that combines the best of both worlds—in-person classroom sessions and online live learning. Classroom sessions provide opportunities for rich interaction, collaboration, and hands-on engagement, while online live learning offers flexibility and convenience, allowing learners to learn anywhere.

Design a lesson plan and create a teaching resource targeted at the learning needs of a particular student and write a reflection on their own practice or the creation of the resource. The write-up should be between 750 to 1000 words.

The written assignment is due 20 working days after the last day of the course.

  • A Certificate of Achievement will be awarded to participants who attain at least 75% attendance and successfully pass the assessment.
  • A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to participants who attain at least 75% attendance and do not wish to undertake the assessment.

*Course will be postponed if the minimum number of participants is not met.
