ABOUT THE COURSE

This 15-hour course is specially designed for participants who are or will be supporting primary school students with specific learning difficulties (SpLD) in their English Examinations. The course will examine the various components of the English Language Paper Two, unpack the intricacies of the components
by simplifying them into simple and manageable steps, and eventually, impart strategies to tackle the examination requirements.

TARGET AUDIENCE

  • The target audience may be a teacher who needs specific strategies in handling English Paper Two that might be helpful in supporting struggling learners in the classroom, Parents who want to support their child at home or other professionals and specialists who support students with learning differences.
  • Having a basic understanding of phonics and grammar would also be helpful.
  • Learners who may benefit from the strategies shared in the course
  • Learners in upper primary struggling in handling English Language Paper 2.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • understand the challenges that students with SpLD face in the components of the English Language Paper Two.
  • identify crucial pre-requisite skills or processes needed by students to successfully complete a task.
  • recognise the steps required to support students with SpLD in a specific component.
  • confidently support a student in English Language paper components using the acquired knowledge and strategies.

COURSE DELIVERY

At DAS Academy, most of our courses are delivered through a blended learning approach that combines the best of both worlds—in-person classroom sessions and online live learning. Classroom sessions provide opportunities for rich interaction, collaboration, and hands-on engagement, while online live learning offers flexibility and convenience, allowing learners to learn anywhere.

ASSESSMENT

  • Online open-ended questions
  • Written paper containing sample components of the English Examination Paper 2

Both tasks are to be attempted and submitted within 3 working days from the last day of the course.

CERTIFICATION AWARDED

  • A Certificate of Achievement will be awarded to participants who attain at least 75% attendance and successfully pass the assessment.
  • A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to participants who attain at least 75% attendance but do not wish to undertake the assessment.

*Course will be postponed if the minimum number of participants is not met.
